Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS.

More cloudy this evening, but got a chance to observe/photograph the comet in-between clouds. Still an interfering Moon. Photo details: Canon 800D, Sigma 50-500 mm lens

The weather finally collaborated. Albeit, the moon strongly influenced the conditions, it was nice to get a view of the comet. Or, rather a few photos of the comet. A couple enclosed. It was not possible to see the comet without optical aids. Photo details: Canon 800D, Sigma 50-500 mm lens

Great space weather, but no so nice earthly weather. Anyhow, here are a few images from October 10/11. Timestamp on images. Some adjustments in contrast and brightness, to compensate for fog and clouds (and rain). Details: Canon 650D, Meka fisheye-lens.

The sky was briefly (somewhat) clear for a brief colorful display of the northern lights. A couple of images snapped around UTC 21.37. Details: Canon 650D / Samyang 8 mm fisheye-lens.

Aurora borealis, and an east-west oriented arc. September 13/14, 2024.

It finally cleared up (somewhat), but not so good conditions. It was indeed a colorful display, in between clouds, and beyond fog. However, the most interesting feature was an east-west oriented arc. It formed at about UTC 21.25 and lasted until about UTC 21.36 it was followed by an intense aurora. The arc appeared in the same loacation where I previously most often have seen/observed STEVE. STEVE, and Aurora Borealis. April 21, 2024.

There was a brief instance of auroral activity on April 21. Not easily seen or photographed because of a bright sky. Interestingly, the contrail like phenomenon STEVE was observed from about UTC 21.02 to 21.34.

STEVE over the mountain. The faint mauve color was captured by an allsky camera (AMS135). Taken at the same time as the DSLR photos below.

12P/Pond-Brooks, and northern lights. April 5/6, 2024.

Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks in the bright western sky on April 5, 2024. Details: Canon 800D, Sigma 50-500 mm lens. I’ve been following the comet for several months, and this is most likely the last image I will take of the comet.
